The Advantages Of Rapid Prototype Services

By Claudine Hodges

Prototyping service is the process of creating all physical parts to be used in testing the fit, look and functions of every design. There are many procedures, which can surely take for week and months to set everything up. It includes dollars in fulfilling all procedures that is why it is taken as really significant.

The process can also save money, time in major cases. There are several service providers that offer rapid prototype services. There are other types of work that are offered by them as well. Some of them are really vital in the overall process. There are basically two types of manufacturing namely the subtractive and additive.

Subtractive procedure includes old methods just like milling, which has various types. The machine can initially have a large size of material. That material is then gradually processed until everything is well done and finished. Additive procedures also include 3D printing, which is new and works by gathering the layers until it is totally done.

The procedures can usually take for hours and sometimes days before its completion. Each has its own advantage which can be applied. Another is called 3D printing and this process must be done well. It is mostly affordable and effective in a way. The additive procedure with all the layers must be created in the best way possible.

Some printers can also use metal for its overall method. There are methods to create the needed layers. One is known as inkjet technology where liquid photopolymer is sprayed on the table to create the shapes of the layers and it can also be dried up using ultraviolet lamps. Another is the use of plastic strips.

The plastics look like a tiny glue gun and it is positioned in the right area to make the layers applying the right outline. Another system uses a laser to make a powder layered material to fuse tiny areas and create the needed outline. There are other techniques that can be applied but everything has to be reviewed first before its application.

Stereolithograpy or known as SLA is one of the many oldest and popular methods that can be done. It offers higher level of details including the cost and the strength needed. The process is also known as addictive process which has higher need of liquid photopolymer. The system must be able to cure all the layers and sections as well.

Another one is the selective laser sintering, also known as SLS is another service offered by the companies. It is more expensive compared to other procedures because its parts have rougher finish compared to other methods. There are many choices of materials available such as plastic, metal, glass and ceramic.

There are series of prototypes required to make it happen. It is usually economical to have the parts molded first and to apply the urethane casting procedure. All quantities involved are of high number. The major part is made using SLA with the RTV mold around it. The best materials must be applied for the right result. There are several options when talking about its color, form and properties.
