What You Should Avoid In Postcard Marketing

By Christopher Murphy

Even after the invention of technology, postcards are still used as a way of relaying information. It may seem like an old method, but it actually is as effective as any other. However, you need to find ways of making the card interesting and not all plain by for example using one catchy but relevant image or and sticking to the main purpose of the card. Below are common mistakes people make in postcard marketing.

Persistence is key in advertising.it is not easy for someone to recall details about something that they have never heard of previously. This means that as you use postcards, you should not just send one and expect a result. It is like firing one shot in the dark. There is a very good chance you will not hit whatever you expected to.

Try to make the postcard as personal as possible. This means you should make it appealing in such a way the recipient will be able to relate to it. The card should be formal yet friendly. If it is formal and cold, chances are the recipient will not even get through the headline. Research shows that friendly postcards get way more responses than unfriendly ones.

Mailing missteps. This includes the types of stamps used and the day the mails are posted. For example, you should go for first-class stamps. Despite the slightly higher prices, there are benefits like the return to sender incase the address is void. You should also take note of the days when it is most convenient to send mail for example, on the days mail is light.

If you do not have the means to come up with postcards on your own, then using them for marketing may be expensive a great deal. It is better to invest in some ink and a printer. This way you can print an endless supply of postcards. You can however occasionally go to a professional if the design you have in mind is too complex.

As you advertise, make sure you give enough detail on the postcard but not too much. You should manage to keep the client interested and wanting to know more. If you give all the information on the postcard, the client may lose it and forget all about it eventually. But with suspense, they will dig up more information.

Put effort into the image, headline, and image. The image and the headline are great determinants of whether the client will respond to your advert or not. Make sure that the headline is actually in line with the image. Once the clients get attracted, they will go on to read the message. Make sure you use simple language that everyone can comprehend.

Never leave out the needed details. You might do a great job in marketing the product or service. The client will want to learn more, and they will want to reach out to you for more information. Make sure your contact information is present.
