How Network Marketing Can Expand Your Business

By Hawley Katherine

For many individuals, network marketing is seen as a wonderful new opportunity. Others use the income it provides to live on in a difficult economy. Network marketing takes hard work and focus to produce an income.

Fundamentally, network marketing is an extension of traditional networking with people in that it seeks to join people based on spoken word advertising. Network marketing is both time and cost effective in that network marketers can select products and/or services and immediately share and broadcast them with friends, family, clients, and customers.

Do not try to use networking events to close people. This is a huge turn off to people who could have ended up becoming strong prospects. A networking event is to get your card into people's hands and their cards into yours. Follow up with potentials within 24 to 48 hours.

People tend to view network marketing with distrust at first, so it's your job to give them a feeling of ease. You must allay all their fears, answer all their questions, and then provide them an easy avenue to sign up themselves without feeling like they're taking any risk. That is how a true network marketer profits.

A new network marketing opportunity will always be more lucrative than a long-standing one, but the older one will be more stable and likely to stick around. You have to judge each opportunity as it comes along on whether or not it's financially viable, and what it's current reputation is, before you decide to join.

In network marketing success it is critical that you never give up. You need to make a commitment to be working one year from today. Do not give up after a few months because you ran into problems or encountered some obstacles. You have to be persistent and keep putting one foot in front of the other to achieve success.

Get a white board and write your goals on it as a constant reminder of what you are working for and of your long term strategy. What do you plan to achieve with your business? Is your ultimate goal something tangible, like a bigger house, or is it something closer to your heart like providing well for your children?

Admit the truth about network marketing to allow your readers to trust you and feel comfortable. When discussing the downfalls some marketers face, immediately follow them up with how you have surmounted those hurdles. For example, talk about the fact that some marketers lie to get people to sign up, but your strict policy of honesty has only lead to better results.

Expose your business to at least thirty people per day. The focus should be on what gets you paid, which is recruiting and retail. In order to become a successful network marketer, spend at least 2 hours per day on exposing your business to people. If you can do this day in and day out for a year, there is no way to fail at your network marketing business.

Avoid using network marketing jargon when you're speaking to a prospective client. There are many phrases that are commonly used within network marketing circles that will not be understood by people who do not work in such a circle. Explain terms if you must use them, but be careful not to talk down to clients.

Take ownership in the company as if you were CEO. If you cannot believe in your product or if you cannot value the service you provide, that will be evident to your customer and lead to failure. Act as if you have every stake in the success of this business based on a solid product and principles behind what you are selling.

Don't spend too much time on pointless things. Working online can make it very difficult to remain focused on the task at hand. Set a schedule for yourself and discipline yourself to stick to it.

You should practice your recruiting technique with a trusted friend before beginning your network marketing recruiting efforts. Recruiting, like any advanced social skill, requires experience to perfect. If you have a few trial runs before doing your real recruiting, you gain a little of that vital experience and head into "live" recruiting with some confidence under your belt.
